The Sound of a Burning Sun is a creative writing text that also becomes a video art piece.
By mixing text and images I can explore the optics and motion of language as written text, as well as a narration that is built when someone reads in silence while watching. By incorporating moving images in this piece, I’m interested in opening a space of critical contemplation, mediated by the uncertainty felt when someone is watching these images while reading this video, a crossroad exercise on narration.
Both the text and the essay, are trying to explore a process of somatic writing. I feel in this particular case, the images that I built helped me to create a corporeal atmosphere that unfolds within the action of seeing and reading. While recording with different devices I was also able to incorporate variations on the materiality of video itself in order to provide the piece with certain embodiment.
