There was a time when Onorúame spoke to the Rrámuri and entrusted them with the care of the balances of the world.
A musical instrument that the Rarámuri name chapareke belongs to that ancestral time, which is part of the arsenal provided by Onorúame to maintain that harmony.
Now the balances have been broken, the chapareke is no longer heard at festivals and rituals.
Only two men, in their daily lives, keep this instrument alive and carry on their shoulders the task of maintaining the delicate balances that sustain the universe and its incessant rhythms and cycles of life, death and rebirth.
